Ca La Pinada is a testament to the fusion of sustainability and design, following the Passivhaus standards. Located in Javea, this beautifully reformed villa retains its Mediterranean essence while embracing a sustainable and eco-friendly concept. The home adheres to these principles, using high-quality insulation, airtight construction, and natural, local materials. This ensures a sustainable, eco-friendly home that maintains comfort and Mediterranean aesthetics while reducing energy consumption by up to 75%.

The Passivhaus standard, originating in Germany in 1991, focuses on creating energy- efficient buildings with minimal heating or cooling needs. Ca La Pinada is a model of sustainable design, adheringto these standards while incorporating traditional Mediterranean bio-construction techniques. This approach combines the use of natural materials like clay, terracotta, and stone, which offer excellent insulating properties and allow the walls to “breathe,” ensuring a healthy indoor environment. The home’s orientation and layout are meticulously planned to minimize harmful radiations and enhance energy efficiency. Key Passivhaus principles applied in Ca La Pinada include superior insulation, high- performance windows and doors, and an efficient heat recovery ventilation system. These elements significantly reduce energy consumption and improve thermal comfort. The exterior stucco, a traditional lime plaster, adds both acoustic and hypoallergenic benefits, regulating humidity and contributing to cleaner air.

The interior design embraces Mediterranean charm with its use of terracotta or wood. The natural materials create a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the beauty of the surrounding landscape. The minimalist approach in Ca La Pinada’s interiors showcases clean lines and neutral tones. This simplicity brings a sense of tranquility and calm, creating a peaceful retreat that prioritizes comfort and relaxation. Terracotta, made from natural clay, is a sustainable
building material. Its production is energy- efficient, and it offers excellent thermal insulation, reducing energy consumption. Durable and chemical- free, terracotta promotes an eco-conscious and healthy lifestyle.
